"I was so excited to receive my two carat tanzanite ring. At first glance the ring looked beautiful-good color in the stone and heavy in the gold. But upon examination the tanzanite was not good. As I was taught by Cheryl and Scott, I turned the ring upside down and sadly saw at least two black lines(scratches??) and inclusions(or bubbles) in the girdle of the stone: All this to the naked eye. I really wanted to cry. I had so looked forward getting my tanzanite ring. Normally, Jtv comes through with very nice stuff. I am returning this ring."

"Although a high price, this was an amazing deal for a 2 carat tanzanite. Having gotten some unsatisfactory tanzanite from JTV, I must admit I was prepared for the worst when I took the chance and ordered this ring and was pleasantly stunned when I opened the box. The color is gorgeous! It's a deep rich blue purple with red and pink flashes. It's particularly beautiful out in the sun where the blue really glows. There is a tiny clear bubble at the bottom of the stone, but barely noticeable-- especially to the naked eye. I figure that is a mark of a genuine gemstone. The band is also thick and solid. Well worth it."

"I just sent my ring back due to large cracks in the tanzanite stone and/or inclusions that I would not expect to be there in an $800 ring. I would NOT recommend this item for purchase. It would be better to spend a bit more and get a certificate/appraisal with it. This is a once in a lifetime purchase, you don't want it to be of poor quality which this piece of jewelry is poor quality."

Fast Facts
| The mineral zoisite was discovered around 1805 in the Austrian area by a Baron for whom it was named. It was usually brown in color, often nearly opaque. |
| The discovery by accident of the tanzanite version, in the late 1960's was a great surprise in Tanzania Africa, where it was first thought to be sapphire crystals. |
| The name Tanzanite was coined by Tiffany who had first and exclusive rights to the pretty blue violet mineral for many years. |
| Wearing a well-cut Tanzanite communicates self-confidence, individuality, and maturity. |
Its brilliant color and its exclusive origin in Tanzania combine to make Tanzanite a unique and highly sought after gemstone. |
|
Tanzanite is a variety of zoisite. It has naturally occurring shades of blue, green, yellow, pink, brown and khaki but virtually all gemstone quality crystals are heat treated to produce the highly valued shades of sapphire blue, amethyst and blue violet. On Mohs’ scale of hardness, tanzanite is 6.5-7. The prime source of all the world’s tanzanite is in Tanzania near Arusha.
