It has an extremely high refractive index and an optical dispersion that is greater than that of a diamond. It is not, however, as hard as a diamond; it only ranks 5 to 5.5 on the Mohs' hardness scale, making it relatively easy to damage. Care needs to be taken when working with these stones or wearing them in everyday "at risk" jewelry like rings and bracelets.

      "It took a month but it finally arrived! It is a beautiful large princess cut and reflects the light like a diamond. I didn't realize strontium titanate was a simulant when I ordered it so I am sending it back because I don't collect simulants at this time."
