Product Description for Min .40ct 6x4mm Oval Paraiba Tourmaline, Erv = $500.00-TFV64023ATourmaline was named after "turmali", the Sinhalese word for "mixed", probably because of the variety of colors it's found in and the fact that it can be bi-, tri- or parti-colored. Tourmaline ranks a tough 7 to 7.5 on the Mohs' scale of hardness. It is the national gemstone of the U.S. but is found all over the world, with colors varying depending on its origin. Indicolite is the name for the deep blue to greenish-blue variety, and rubellite is the pink-red color.

"I must be the only one out here who is not "nuts" about Pairaiba. I bought this just as an addition to my specimen collection. I prefer the "paraiba colored apetite" or better yet a nice Swiss blue topaz for the blue. The stone's quality is good and price wise it is great."

"My Paraiba is pretty but I expected it to be more of the neon blue, but it looks more like an aquamarine. It is light in color. The first day I dropped it in my auqa colored carpet and had to use a flashlight to find it!! I wish it were darker. When it was being described on television, it was described as "a color like no other". It looked much brighter on televison. I am studying gemstones an before I send this back I am going to take it to be appraised this week. After that I will deside whether I will keep it or not. Just to let you know, I have bought some beautiful stones from Jewerly Television. This Paraiba was not what I was hoping for. I looked at others on another website, and that is when I realized what a true "neon" color was."
