Product Description for Min .40ct 5mm Round Paraiba TourmalineTourmaline was named after "turmali", the Sinhalese word for "mixed", probably because of the variety of colors it's found in and the fact that it can be bi-, tri- or parti-colored. Tourmaline ranks a tough 7 to 7.5 on the Mohs' scale of hardness. It is the national gemstone of the U.S. but is found all over the world, with colors varying depending on its origin. Indicolite is the name for the deep blue to greenish-blue variety, and rubellite is the pink-red color.

"My tourmaline weighed out at 0.52ct, but it was the color of aquamarine. I know the value of the gem, it was still a very good deal, but I am returning it because of the color. Nothing else wrong with it, very clean and beautiful, just too light for my taste."
