Product Description for Min .40ct 6x4mm Pear Shape Paraiba Tourmaline-TFP6401A

Tourmaline was named after "turmali", the Sinhalese word for "mixed", probably because of the variety of colors it's found in and the fact that it can be bi-, tri- or parti-colored. Tourmaline ranks a tough 7 to 7.5 on the Mohs' scale of hardness. It is the national gemstone of the U.S. but is found all over the world, with colors varying depending on its origin. Indicolite is the name for the deep blue to greenish-blue variety, and rubellite is the pink-red color.

"I ordered this piece for for $99.99 and you cannot get something that is worth $10,000/ct or more for a hundred bucks. There really was no color to the piece, it looked very included, and I for sure am going to stick with Apatite to try to get the color that I want. I will never order any more Paraiba Tourmaline again. However, I still will order from JTV because they have a reat return policy so it is no risk shopping."

"Even though this gem?? cost only $99.99 I spent the $50.00 and had it appraised. When the TV hosts present items they sometimes advise you to do this. Since all the hosts keep repeating how valuable Paraiba is I decided to take their advise. After all, they always tell us how Paraiba "can" sometimes be worth as much as $40,000. a kt. My stone had a window in it almost as big as the stone. There was only a small amount of color at each end. Saturation was rated at LOW to VERY LOW (1-2). It was only .38 carats. TONE: EXTREMELY LIGHT (1). Replacement cost. $240. I'm sending it back."
