Product Description for Min 1.50ct 9x7mm Oval Paraiba Tourmaline-TFV9704A

Tourmaline was named after "turmali", the Sinhalese word for "mixed", probably because of the variety of colors it's found in and the fact that it can be bi-, tri- or parti-colored. Tourmaline ranks a tough 7 to 7.5 on the Mohs' scale of hardness. It is the national gemstone of the U.S. but is found all over the world, with colors varying depending on its origin. Indicolite is the name for the deep blue to greenish-blue variety, and rubellite is the pink-red color.

"but doesn't compare to the color saturation, hue of Brazilian Paraiba. I know Mozambique material is known to be cleaner but not as strong in color, but I was hoping for a little deeper color. This stone was beautiful, clean and vibrant, but I will try again."
