Product Description for Min 2.75ct 10x8mm Oval Paraiba Tourmaline-TFV10802CTourmaline was named after "turmali", the Sinhalese word for "mixed", probably because of the variety of colors it's found in and the fact that it can be bi-, tri- or parti-colored. Tourmaline ranks a tough 7 to 7.5 on the Mohs' scale of hardness. It is the national gemstone of the U.S. but is found all over the world, with colors varying depending on its origin. Indicolite is the name for the deep blue to greenish-blue variety, and rubellite is the pink-red color.

"This 2.75 ct pariba tourmaline turned out to be a aquamarine. It pays to have a refractometer, or make sure you bring any high dollar purchase to a gemologist for an appraisal immediately. Fortunately, JTV fully refunded my purchase. I am still a loyal customer and will continue to make high dollar purchases from JTV."
