"I know you get what you pay for and this ring has a ridiculously low price but come on, I expected it to resemble an Ametrine. The stone in the ring I received does not resemble an Ametrine. It looks like a washed out pale Amethyst. It is a very pale lilac color with no visible citrine color at all. The stone is larger than I expected and has good clarity and cut but absolutely no saturation of color. I still want to own an Ametrine ring and if I can get one with a nice stone would like to exchange it."

"This is the third time I have tried ordering an ametrine from JTV and they all disappoint me. There hasn't been a definition of color and two of the three really lacked any color at all. I like JTV but I'm done ordering ametrines from them."

Ametrine, a bi-color quartz, is made of amethyst and citrine in the same stone and combines both stones in its name.
One of the most common gem families, quartz can be found all around the world.
In 1921, quartz it was discovered that quartz can generate an electrical charge.
Throughout history, quartz was considered to hold the power of communication or divination. Interestingly, quartz was used in the development of modern radio frequencies.
The Greeks believed quartz was clear ice that over time had hardened into stone.




Ametrine is a quartz crystal that contains amethyst and citrine. It is a bi-color gemstone including the violet of amethyst and the yellow of citrine. On Mohs’ scale of hardness, ametrine is 7. It is primarily found in Bolivia.
