      The colors of spessartite garnets can range from a bright vibrant orange to a deep red-orange color. Spessartite was once just a collector's gem but moved into mainstream gemology in the 1990s. Spessartite is 6.5 to 7.5 on the Mohs' scale and, like all garnet, is untreated, so the beautiful color that you see is strictly as nature created it.

      "This garnet is very pretty and met my needs as far as the snap set that I put it into (see above). I used another garnet from my previous purchase of a 50ctw faceted gemstone kit and they matched perfectly. I can't complain. It is a very dark stone and looks great against the skin."

      "At first I thought it was mis marked and I got a red andesine labradorite. the color is deep deep red-orange. I took my red labradorite out to compare, the labradorite was definately RED and the garnet was more so orange. the stone is pretty in its own right, but not what I was expecting. Not sure what I'm going to do with the stone yet, like I said it is pretty, it just is not the color I was expecting at all. I was hoping for more of the true orange color. Not a fan of orange stones but spessertite is stunning!!! NOT this stone however (as far as color quality)."
