Spessartite is 6.5 to 7.5 on the Mohs' scale and, like all garnet, is untreated, so the beautiful color that you see is strictly as nature created it.

      "This was the worst stone we have received from JTV. Every other stone we ordered so far has been great. Quality control must have missed this one. Stone was heavily included and surface was badly chipped and scratched. Weighed in at .65ct. Color was good. We returned the stone, so we hope no one else gets it."
