"This gemstone explodes with thousands of tiny needles of crimson brilliance in any light. In sunshine, though, the effect is both stunning and mesmerizing! I knew I wanted a crimson topaz because I had seen them many times on television and admired the color immensely in many different cuts. So when this stone came on the air, and it was on sale, and Scott was pointing out the finer points of the quantum cutting on this stone in particular, I knew I had found the stone I would buy. With so much in its favor I couldn't think of any reason to pass it up. And when it arrived the only thing I found that I didn't like about it was the lack of definition of the concave cut on the crown of the stone. It doesn't detract from the beauty of the stone in any way, as no one would ever notice it unless they were inspecting it very, very closely or looking at it with a loupe. I would recommend this stone to anyone who was looking for a gemstone with both rich, eye-catching color and a lot of flash. It is definitely a keeper."

Fast Facts
| The origin of the name could be from the ancient Topasos Islands near Greece. |
| Topaz can be very costly and rare when they occur naturally in unusual colors. All colors have been a popular choice for jewelry since European royalty started collecting gemstones. |
| Europeans preferred colorless Topaz as a substitute for diamond when those stones were unavailable. The reason was because it was often available in excellent clarity rough and took a beautiful high polish. |
Topaz is the birthstone of December. |
