"I'm a little confused. I bought this stone (my very first JTV purchase) several months ago for $199.99. When it arrived I was so excited! It was beautiful, all I expected and then some back then. It actually began my new hobby, collecting and learning about gemstones. I planned on getting an appraisal but things happen and didn't get around to it, but I really wasn't concerned. Now for the confusion...with all the talk surrounding Tanzanite (we all have heard it, JTV keeps us well informed and I love that) I decided to look up my stone (which by the way weighed in at .70 CT) and see if perhaps the price has changed being it's been a long while. I typed in the item # and to my surprise, the stone is now only $62.49 LESS than I paid! No sale, nothing special going on with it so I don't understand why it went down rather than up in price, or even stay the same. I guess things happen sometimes."

Tanzanite is a variety of zoisite. It has naturally occurring shades of blue, green, yellow, pink, brown and khaki but virtually all gemstone quality crystals are heat treated to produce the highly valued shades of sapphire blue, amethyst and blue violet. On Mohs’ scale of hardness, tanzanite is 6.5-7. The prime source of all the world’s tanzanite is in Tanzania near Arusha.
