The tiny crystals found inside geodes are a common form of drusy quartz. It is often dyed to enhance its color. Like all quartz, drusy has a Mohs' rating of 7.

"These were the dullest of the six drusy's I purchased- still sparkly, but the two I got still don't match (by a longshot, even on either side of your head!) I'm not saying they aren't pretty, but neither of the ones I got are quite as nice as the picture. From other reviews, and the one really sparkly one I got in peacock, it's the luck of the draw."

"Well it is interesting. Although I understand what it is, crystals that have formed on a host stone, it appears to be alot of glitter glued to a piece of stone. The color is lovely, but, I have no idea what to do with it. Keep it in a plastic container I guess. It's very unusual."

"When they say the picture does not do it justice they are absolutely right. It looks like if you ran your finger over the top of it you would get glitter on you finger...but you don't. I have to get more in different colors because I can only imagine what they all look like! If you want to add a gemstone that has a unique effect and is priced insanely low this is the stone for you."
