    "I've tried this product with all different light sources and directions of light and the only time it showed black lines was with man-made Zandrite. I have tried it on all my loose gemstones and it doesn't do a thing. It is worthless. I'm considering buying additional tools, but if they are this quality, I'll be very unhappy. This came with a kit and I would have had to return everything in the kit and pay shipping to return. So I'm stuck with it."

    "This item was difficult to use, especially on smaller stones because it is almost impossible to keep steady centered over the stone. The book Gem Identification Made Easy does not recommend small hand held tools such as this one. I would be interested in a spectroscope on a stand if JTV ever sells one."

    "I bought this spectroscope thinking I could tell one stone from another. There were absolutely no instructions included and for the first few weeks after using it; I found out I was looking through the wrong end of the instrument...When I called customer care they said they would look up instructions and get back to me. They called back several days later, but I haven't used this in over six or eight months. Oh Well!!"
