"This rings setting was very pretty but the accent diamonds were almost non existant. The stone was so dark it looked black and had no sparkle which made it tool fake. Sadly it is going back."

"Sorry but this one is going back. The stone is so dark; it really looks like a midnight sapphire. Also, the stone is crooked in the setting. For the price and the way it looks in the picture, I was expecting something much more impressive."

"This ring had a nice comfortable setting. The texturing design on the gold was very pretty. The diamond accents were small but visiable and nice quality. You don't see such large round iolites. My stone was a good color. I have some that are a little darker but this was good. Nice cut and well set. No windows or inclusions in the stone."

Iolite is a clean, beautiful stone that is still very affordable.
It can be found in blue to purple to light gray colors.
The Vikings used iolite as a light polarizer, using it to see through the haze and determine the exact location of the sun on overcast days.
With a very strong pleochroism, iolite changes colors when viewed from different angles.
Iolite is found in Myanmar (previously called Burma), Brazil, India, Madagascar, Sri Lanka, and the United States.








Iolite

Iolite is a gemstone with a slight variability in chemical composition between stones. It exhibits a blue-to-violet range of colors and sometimes shows a brownish streak. On Mohs’ scale of hardness, iolite is 7-7.5. It has a greasy luster and primary sources include Burma (Myanmar), Brazil, India, Madagascar, Sri Lanka and the United States.
