Product Description for 4x4mm Trillion Canary Tourmaline-T91T000027Tourmaline was named after "turmali", the Sinhalese word for "mixed", probably because of the variety of colors it's found in and the fact that it can be bi-, tri- or parti-colored. Tourmaline ranks a tough 7 to 7.5 on the Mohs' scale of hardness. It is the national gemstone of the U.S. but is found all over the world, with colors varying depending on its origin. Indicolite is the name for the deep blue to greenish-blue variety, and rubellite is the pink-red color.

"What a beautiful little stone -- so beautifully cut! But alas, I can't find any findings for smaller trillions on JTV! Trying to decide what I am going to do...... I am not a yellow person, but these little gems are and aren't really yellow -- maybe, more antique gold, better describes them!"

"If this stone were any more canary yellow, it would start singing! Small and powerful is right; it looks like liquid sunshine. I purchased 3 and received two that are perfectly matched (for earrings). Haven't decided what I'll do with the other one yet"
