Product Description for Min 1.30ct Mm Varies Round Dark Champagne DiamondThe name "diamond" comes from the Greek word "adamas", meaning "the unconquerable." Diamond earned this named as the hardest gemstone, ranking a 10 on the Mohs' scale--the highest rank possible. Diamond's cutting resistance is 140 times greater than ruby and sapphire, the next hardest stones on the scale. Irradiation treatment is sometimes used to enhance the color of diamonds. During this treatment, the stone is exposed to high-energy sources (like electrons) to create wonderful colors.

"I haven't returned this one...yet. With an eye-visible white inclusion right in the middle of the table, it makes the grade of Imperfect (I). However, the color is a rich warm brown (not pink like in the photo) with sparkles of gold & an occasional pink, green or blue! It is mesmerizing. The cut obviously is good or it would not be as sparkly. But, longterm, I'm not so sure it is worth $1,000. The champagne diamond craze may pass and I-grade champagnes may not be worth their weight in cookies. ;) Wish JTV would let you amend a review. But so be it. I will sleep on this one while I wait fto check out 2 pricier 1 ctw champagnes...which I hope will be better quality. The pricier ones carry a grade...grade SI-1. None of the first ones I looked at were graded. And no wonder, since all were I (imperfect) with all kinds of problems. But at least JTV has a decent return policy...unfortunately you have to make up your mind in only 2 weeks for these items over $500."

Fast Facts
| Diamond is the hardest known gemstone on earth. |
| In 1477, Archduke Maximillian gave his betrothed a ring set with a diamond as a love token, making it the first recorded diamond engagement ring. |
| Diamond comes from the Greek word “adamas” meaning invincible. |
| Some beautiful purple color garnets will often be found in kimberlite (blue ground) soil samples in diamond rich areas and called diamond indicators. |
As diamonds are formed by nature, most naturally develop minute imperfections known as inclusions. A diamond is considered “clean” if a trained eye cannot see inclusions when viewing the diamond through a color corrected lens at 10 times magnification. |
|
Diamond is crystallized carbon, the only gem composed of a single element. The most popular diamonds are traditionally colorless, but they can also be found in yellow and brown colors. Although much rarer, diamonds known as “fancies” also come in blue, red, pink, green, orange, black, lavender and purple. On Mohs’ scale of hardness, diamond is the world’s hardest substance at 10. It has a high luster and primary sources include South Africa, Namibia, Australia, Botswana, Russia, Zaire, Brazil, Ghana, Angola, Central African Republic and Canada.
