"I just love these Paraiba Chalcedony stones! They are such a pretty color and seem to glow from within. I have made earrings, ring, enhancer for an omega, and now, a bracelet from them. They are my favorite stones. The bracelet turned out quite well, with the Paraibas on each side of a pretty turquoise blue stone I received in a parcel and mounted in the center of the bracelet. The sides of the bracelet are three strands of various beads and corals that repeat what I used on the enhancer. if you don't have any of these stones in your collection, you must get one. No picture can do this stone justice. You must hold it in your hand to see it's true beauty and inner glow. (I apoligize for my poor photography, but my old camera is just not made for these close-ups.)"

"I bought 2 stones similar to this one quite awhile back. I gave one to my niece, who lives in the Virgin Islands. We both love them. They look like the water down there. We like them because they are so different from the clear color stones. We both have an Apatite ring with the same color. So so happy with all we have purchased from JTV!"

Fast Facts
| Chalcedony is a species name for all cryptocrystalline (fine-grained) quartzes as well as the name of a specific gemstone in that species. The actual chalcedony gemstones come in a range of blue-white-gray hues. |
| Chalcedony is listed as one of the stones in the foundation of the city walls of the New Jerusalem in Revelation (21:19). |
| Its durability, beauty, and abundance made chalcedony one of the earliest raw materials used by humans. |
Originally shaped into knives, tools, and containers, chalcedony eventually was used as an adornment, sometimes even carved into cameos.
|
Sources for chalcedony include Brazil, India, Madagascar, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, Uruguay, and the United States (California).
|
|
Chalcedony represents a family of fine-grained (cryptocrystalline) quartz crystals including agate, chyrsoprase, bloodstone, jasper, carnelian, moss agate, onyx, and sard, as well as one variety known specifically as chalcedony. On Mohs’ scale of hardness, all chalcedonies are 6.5 7. In its natural state, chalcedony has a waxy or dull luster.
Color
The actual chalcedony stone itself is bluish-white-gray.
