    Prehnite is a pale yellowish to light green stone, sometimes even resembling jade, but prehnite often displays a unique glow or sheen. It was named after its discoverer, Hendrik Van Prehn, a Dutchman who brought prehnite from Africa to Europe in the late 1700s. Prehnite ranks a 6 to 6.5 on Mohs' hardness scale and primary sources include Australia, Scotland, and South Africa (Kalahari).

    "Ok, the stone IS very pretty and has a lovely color but it appears to have a small crack (might just be some kind of inclusion) and it's right at the top, so there's no way to hide it. This one's going back."

    "I bought this stone for my collection. It's beautiful, although the difference between the size of the stone on my computer screen and the one in the box took me aback at first. But it's really pretty, and I'll show it off proudly. Doubt that I'll make jewelry from this one, because I work with horses and goats, and it just wouldn't be practical."

    "The hostesses said that t.v. didn't show the true color of this stone and that is was more lemon yellow in person. I took their word for it and ordered one. It is very yellow. I'm glad I have it for my gemstone collection. Unique."
