"I rec. my ring today and upon opening was disappointed to see that the color was very pale, more of a lilac shade. I based my purchase on the Internet pictures and previous reviews which described a medium blue color. This is my 2nd. Tanzanite purchase and both have been the same pale color. I will keep as it is similar to the color of the pendant I ordered several month ago, but was expecting a better color."

Pretty, but ..........,

"The ring is very pretty. More lite purple color than on the blue side. I am sending back as I find that one of the marquis stones on one side does not seem to be sitting the same as the other and also they are different in color. One seems to be on the darker side while the other is lighter. I am not sure if I will return and have it replaced (hopefully will not receive the same one back!) or just return for credit."

"When I bought this ring I wasn't sure what to expect. Would it be dark blue or the light pale lilac. It was neither - a medium beautiful blue. Probably AA quality, but the stones are great- not included at all(with a 10x loupe). One stone is set a little crooked but that's okay, it is set in 14kt not 10kt gold. The cut is fancy (marquis) I will have it appraised just to see. My ring looks just like the picture, I would say get this."

Fast Facts
| The mineral zoisite was discovered around 1805 in the Austrian area by a Baron for whom it was named. It was usually brown in color, often nearly opaque. |
| The discovery by accident of the tanzanite version, in the late 1960's was a great surprise in Tanzania Africa, where it was first thought to be sapphire crystals. |
| The name Tanzanite was coined by Tiffany who had first and exclusive rights to the pretty blue violet mineral for many years. |
| Wearing a well-cut Tanzanite communicates self-confidence, individuality, and maturity. |
Its brilliant color and its exclusive origin in Tanzania combine to make Tanzanite a unique and highly sought after gemstone. |
|
Tanzanite is a variety of zoisite. It has naturally occurring shades of blue, green, yellow, pink, brown and khaki but virtually all gemstone quality crystals are heat treated to produce the highly valued shades of sapphire blue, amethyst and blue violet. On Mohs’ scale of hardness, tanzanite is 6.5-7. The prime source of all the world’s tanzanite is in Tanzania near Arusha.
