Product Description for Min 1.25ct 7mm Round Tanzanite

Tanzanite was discovered in 1967. It has a unique violet-blue to blue color that only Ceylon sapphire and iolite come close to matching, with red-violet flashes. Tanzanite ranks a respectable 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs' scale, but loose stones and jewelry like rings and bracelets need to be treated with care to prevent damage. Tanzanite is only found in one place in the world, Tanzania, and the continued availability of tanzanite is uncertain, which increases its rarity and its price.

"This is a very nice gem quaility stone. I would recommend this to a friend that wants dark violet/blue however I really desire the darker blue/violet rahter than violet / blue. This is my 3rd attempt to get a blue/violet .I sent the others back but this one is so nice I might keep it and gift it to a friend that likes violet.I would have given this an excellant if it had been the color shown on TV."
