"I bought this ring for a friend because I know she loves the color orange. Not only was this stone a beautiful orange color but the cut is like none I have ever seen. I don't know the name of the cut but now I just may have to order one for myself! It is truly a "hand-grabber.""

"Sorry, but this one went right back. The stone had a defect that despite the nice color and cut ,made it look like it had a big watter spot on the top.The setting was very flimsy, not enough gold to be wearable on everyday basis. I loved the overall design and color but this time the quality ,I am used to get from JTV ,was lacking."

"If you want a stone that is "orange red", this is the ring for you! I was very satisfied when I saw the color, clarity, saturation, and cut of this lab created sapphire. I own other lab created padparadscha jewelry, and this ring matches them perfectly! I really like the fact that it is set in l0kt. gold. I hope JTV will offer a bracelet in gold to match this ring. Thanks, JTV, for another great value on beautiful jewelry!!!"

"This ring is absolutely beautiful! The color exudes such warmth, it makes me feel so good to wear it. This ring has been a "hand grabber. I have had tons of compliments on this ring. I bought the matching earrings as well. I absolutely love this ring, and recommend it enthusiastically. Thanks JTV!"

Padparadscha Sapphire

Fast Facts

As a hard 9 on Mohs' scale, sapphire is ideal for all types of jewelry. They are found in every color, and all colors other than blue are considered fancy.

The most desired and expensive of fancy sapphires is the Padparadscha sapphire. The term "Padparadscha" comes from the Sanskrit/Singhalese words "padma" meaning "lotus" and "raga" meaning "color," because its pinkish-orange color is similar to that of the lotus flower. The name sapphire may derive from the Greek Sanskrit sanipriya, meaning ???dear to the planet Saturn.???

Some are found in Africa, but true Padparadscha sapphires are from Ceylon (Sri Lanka).
