    "not the deep purple of african amethyst. not checkerboard cut as indicated in the description. now, because it's on clearance, and there is only one left, can't get it replaced either. I'm not happy about this purchase."

    "This stone was scratched in the back, so I sent it back. However, it was a nicely faceted deep purple stone which looked interesting. The deep purple color did not evenly saturate the entire stone throughout with color. Only a thin rim on the top of the stone had the deep purple color. The back of the stone had a very clear light lavender color. Maybe that is what happens in the heating process. The stone was almost too dark in the front, and I could hardly see a sparkle. I was looking forward to seeing the shades of blue sparkle that were shown on TV, but could only see what appeared to be a cloudy dark navy blue shade."

    "Absolutely beautiful! The gemstone I got is a beautiful dark purple that really sparkles! I can see the flashes of blue similar to that of what I saw on TV for African Amethyst. I purchased a gold pendant casting to go along with this and am very happy with my resulting jewelry."
