Product Description for Min 1.50ct 9x7mm Oval Tanzanite-T51279

Tanzanite was discovered in 1967. It has a unique violet-blue to blue color that only Ceylon sapphire and iolite come close to matching, with red-violet flashes. Tanzanite ranks a respectable 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs' scale, but loose stones and jewelry like rings and bracelets need to be treated with care to prevent damage. Tanzanite is only found in one place in the world, Tanzania, and the continued availability of tanzanite is uncertain, which increases its rarity and its price.

"stone I got was more purple than blue -- had an un-even cut on the bottom and also had a small window hole that you could see what the top of the stone. Not worth 1k at all -- I returned and I will give it one more try with an exchange -- it the same, I will ask for a credit."

"The color of my stone was gorgeous - red flashes and lots of blue. Unfortunately, the cut was terrible - egg shaped rather than oval, and very, very shallow stone. Regrettably, when I found out how much it would cost to set the stone because of its shape, I returned it."
