Product Description for Min 8.75ct 14x10mm Emerald Cut Kunzite
It's believed that kunzite was discovered in California in 1877, but the first significant commercial deposit was found there in 1902 and named for George Kunz of Tiffany & Co. With a rank of 6.5 to 7 on Mohs' scale, kunzite should only be cleaned with an ionic cleaner. It must be cut carefully to achieve the deepest tone and saturation, and the best color is found in stones of 10 carats or greater. The color can fade under prolonged light or heat; thus the "evening stone" is best worn at night.
