Product Description for Min 2.00ct 10x8mm Oval Tanzanite-T516411

Tanzanite was discovered in 1967. It has a unique violet-blue to blue color that only Ceylon sapphire and iolite come close to matching, with red-violet flashes. Tanzanite ranks a respectable 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs' scale, but loose stones and jewelry like rings and bracelets need to be treated with care to prevent damage. Tanzanite is only found in one place in the world, Tanzania, and the continued availability of tanzanite is uncertain, which increases its rarity and its price.

"I purchased this stone to make a pendant for my friend's wife. The color is beautiful and rich. It has a nice cut and the light reflects nicley off of the facets. To the naked eye, it is flawless and it doesn't have a window. Just the perfect mix of blue and lavender! The clarity of the stone is excellent and it has the flashes of blue and red. It is a beautful stone for the money, considering what you would pay for retail. I am having the stone appraised and will report the findings when I receive it."
