"I just received my sphene today(such an unfortunate name) and I can say that it's ...all right. The size is true, and the weight is right, the color is very close to photo shown. I does have one dark speck but it's eye clean apart from that. I had seen some sphenes that were positively seductive with their beautiful red, green, dark amber and other colors flashes dancing inside this appealing mineral. I was impatient to receive this one anticipating such a show. But this stone only hints at the posibilities of flashes and not in every light. It doesn't look terribly impressive in sunlight, it seems to be happier indoors. I don't know if this is representative of all sphenes, I have made other purchases in order to see. At the price offered, I can't condemn this stone. It tries hard but it just can't be splendid. But it's adequate and if one MUST have a sphene, this one is certainly affordable. My interest is whetted. I willl continue to investigate this amazing mineral based on the faint promise this little sphene holds. But I will be sending this one back to it's mama. I can apply the price towards a more satisfying stone. I am not so much recommending it as giving it a low passing grade."
