    Yag is short for yttrium aluminum garnet. Yag is a manmade gemstone that, like CZ, does not have a counterpart in nature. Yag has the same basic crystal structure of garnet but is not garnet. Dopants are added to the mix to create the various colors that yag is created in. It's a fun and affordable diamond stimulant ranking a durable 8 on Mohs' hardness scale.

    "I'd had never heard of a "White Yag" so I ordered out of curiosity. The stone I received sparkled with little or no color. Will keep because it's no longer made. The best imitation I've found, so far, is called "Absolute" but on another jewelry channel.
    I also love Bella Luci."

    "I was so excited when this purchase arrived, its a great cut and very sparkly. My only complaint is I didn't realize Jtv didn't have any castings or semi-mounts that would fit an 8x8 trillion cut. So I have to be patient and hope they add that to the selection. Its a stone to be worn after all."

    "I know I bought a yag, but I keep looking at it and telling myself that it just looks like a diamond. I held it up next to my own diamond engagement ring under a magnifying lense and they looked exactly alike to me. I can't wait to find the right setting for this stone so I can wear it."
