    Zandrite is a type of synthetic glass that was created by a major glass manufacturer. A developing scientist realized that the new creation had gemstone marketing possibilities and started a movement that began a new gemstone trend. It has 100% color change abilities, which is why it was given the name "zandrite"--a play off of the very expensive natural gem alexandrite. Zandrite ranks a slightly fragile 5 on Mohs', the same as glass.

    "I have several Zandrites that I have purchased over the years, including one that had not yet debuted until after I ordered it, having seen it on a turntable and being enchanted by its color of green, not knowing it changed color. I saw it and I wanted it, so I called and it became mine. It was only after I purchased it that I saw what it does.

    Well, this new one is way more powerful! It just arrived yesterday and I was really taken aback by the powerful color changes it makes under different light sources. I have seen at least three and maybe four totally separate colors from this newest stone. I am so impressed!!!"

    "I pulled this one out of the package and it was a beautiful green under my flourescent lights at my kitchen table. Knowing that it was a Zandrite, I wanted to run outside and see it change in the sunlight. What a surprise to see how quickly and drastically it changed just by turning my back to the light!!!
