      "Very pretty stone. I had it set in a ring and it is beautiful. Would recommend it if you can't afford a Ruby this will well take it's place. Nice size for a ring setting."

      Red to pink colors of tourmaline are often referred to as rubellite.
      Perfect for everyday wear, tourmaline is fairly durable at 7.5 on the Mohs’ scale and has no cleavage (reducing breakage and chipping).
      Sometimes referred to as the “electric stone,” tourmaline becomes statically charged when heated or rubbed, attracting dust, lint and small pieces of paper.
      Tourmaline possesses one of the widest color ranges, reproducing every conceivable color in the universe.
      Brazil stands as the most important supplier of tourmaline.




      Rubellite is a gemstone variety of the Tourmaline group. Valued for its ruby color, it exhibits a range of color from pink to red, sometimes with a violet tint. On Mohs’ scale of hardness, rubellite is 7-7.5. It has a vitreous luster on crystal surfaces and a greasy luster on fractures. Sources include Brazil (Minas Gerais, Paraida), Afghanistan, Australia, Burma (Myanmar), India, Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Russia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, the United States (California, Maine), Zaire, Elba (Italy) and Switzerland (Tessin).
