"I was impressed when I opened the box and saw this set. The earrings alone were worth the price! Getting a large pendant is like a "bonus". The intricate scrolled frames around the stones make these pieces look much more expensive than they were. The wires are long and a nice gauge (thickness). The color of the carnelian stones are more of a "brick red", not as bright red as shown in the photo. Great set for such a small price! Thanks, JTV. Keep the beautiful jewelry and great values coming!!!"

"The set is very nice however, mine set is more brown than it is red. Not quite what I thought I was going to get but it is very nice.

Chalcedony that is uniformly colored red to reddish brown or flesh is known as carnelian.
Its durability, beauty and abundance made chalcedony one of the earliest raw materials used by humans.
Originally shaped into knives, tools and containers, chalcedony eventually was used as an adornment.
The finest carnelian in the world comes from India.




Carnelian is a quartz crystal and a sub-variety of chalcedony. It is found in flesh-color to reddish brown to a uniform red. On Mohs’ scale of hardness, carnelian is 6.5 - 7. It has a waxy or dull luster and primary sources include Brazil, India and Uruguay.
