"I debated about this bracelet before I ordered it. Would it be well made & would the pearls be nice? My concerns flew out the window when I saw it in person! (Thanks, Gem Fairy, for your review.) The pearls are very nice with thick, even nacre & smooth surface. The leather braiding is very well made as are the silver accents & clasp. Right now, the leather is stiff & will take a little work to mold it to the wrist. In time, with wear, I'm sure it will soften up. I got this to give to my neighbor's daughter for her 16th birthday. I'm sure she will love it. I decided to order this bracelet in black & will be getting another pink one for other gifts. This is so fashionable for a teenager!"

"What a wonderful value: ornate sterling silver, lustrous pearls, and cool pink leather make this bracelet chic & stylish. A competitor's similar bracelet is 3 times the cost, and having purchased both, I can honestly say the only real difference is in the price for the Design name! The pearls in this bracelet are so gorgeous, and the bracelet itself is well made. My daughters and I have both the necklace & bracelet: the hook & eye closure stays secure with the weight of the necklace, and with the bracelet we simply pinch the hook completely closed for security. The sterling silver is not plated to allow some tarnishing to deepen the silver work for a classic look. This is a great combination of textures: pearls and silver and leather make a casual yet upscale, chic bracelet! Designer style at a fantastic price!"

Fast Facts
Once the price of pearls was so extravagant they caused wars and even funded a war, but today cultured pearls have made this “queen of gems” available to everyone.
Once, all pearls were only natural, most recovered from the Persian Gulf, occurring once in every 15,000 oysters.
Pearls form in the mollusk in a variety of shapes, including: round (spherical), off-round, semi-baroque, baroque, rice shaped, button or disk, and many fancy shapes created by the insertion of specially shaped nucleus beads.
Many royal families had an obsession with pearls. Some ancient Romans covered whole pieces of furniture in pearl, and in some monarchies only members of the royal were legally allowed to wear pearls.
When light touches the pearl, it travels through all the layers of nacre, and each tiny crystal reflects the light like miniature prisms. The end result? A lustrous, breathtaking pearl.

|

It exhibits a range of colors from white to pink, silver, cream, peach, gold, green, blue and black. Oh Mohs’ scale of hardness, pearl is 2.5 4.5. Primary sources of Sea Pearls include Persian Gulf; Gulf of Manaar; along the coasts of Madagascar, Burma (Myanmar), and the Philippines; many islands in the South Pacific, northern Australia; and the coastal lines of Central and northern South America; and some small beds in Japan. Primary sources of freshwater Pearls include United States, some in Europe (restricted in Central Europe).
