"I purchased these castings to mount a pair of ruby simulant emerald cut stones. I have used these castings many, many times, and they look lovely once mounted. I do have more trouble using these than any other snap-set casting, but it is not the fault of the casting, but my own inexperience. I have found it a great help to use a piece of double-stick tape, place the stone on it, and then mount the stone. The tape keeps the stone from scooting all over the place and turning on me. They can be slippery little devils, and this helps a lot. Once mounted, the castings display the stones quite well. Using these is a bit of a challenge, but it just makes you a better person to try something new and accomplish it. They are well made castings, but because they have a closed back, some of the deeper cut stones will not fit them. I have had one instance in which the stones were just too large and the pavillion too deep to fit them, and had to go to an open back casting of a larger size. Other than that, they have done well for me."

"No surprises with this purchase. They are what they are. It would be better if they were 6 pronged."
