Product Description for Min 1.50ct 8x8mm Trillion TanzaniteTanzanite was discovered in 1967. It has a unique violet-blue to blue color that only Ceylon sapphire and iolite come close to matching, with red-violet flashes. Tanzanite ranks a respectable 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs' scale, but loose stones and jewelry like rings and bracelets need to be treated with care to prevent damage. Tanzanite is only found in one place in the world, Tanzania, and the continued availability of tanzanite is uncertain, which increases its rarity and its price.

"This is my biggest single Tanzanite stone purchase and well worth the money! My stone is gorgeous, not too light and just the right color in deep blue with the shots of fire or red that you want to see in Tanzanite. The cut is excellent and clarity is even better if that is possible. All in all this one is worth keeping!"

"I bought this gemstone just to see if it could be true, to get a Tanzanite that looked so good on TV for such a price. Not only is it a beautiful color, blue with purple overtones which is what I prefer to just blue, but there is no window at all in the cutting. I didn't know what that was until Cheryl showed a trillion Tanzanite with a window. It looked like a clear spot all along the lines where the facets met in the back. This Tanzanite looked perfect on TV so I figured I'd give it a try. I am completely satisfied with this superb gem. And now I check for the lack of a window in all the gems I order. Thanks, Cheryl, for the tip."

"The stone was good quality and cut, however, the color looked MUCH deeper and darker on TV. When I received it, I was surprised at the lack of color. I have a darker one that I had already purchased from JTV of same size/weight that I spent hundreds less for!"

"This gemstone is beautifully cut with absolutely no windowing whatsoever. It has a deep saturation of color throughout, slightly more violet than blue and is breathtaking. It weighs .31 points more than the minimum carat weight which is a true bonus."

Fast Facts
| The mineral zoisite was discovered around 1805 in the Austrian area by a Baron for whom it was named. It was usually brown in color, often nearly opaque. |
| The discovery by accident of the tanzanite version, in the late 1960's was a great surprise in Tanzania Africa, where it was first thought to be sapphire crystals. |
| The name Tanzanite was coined by Tiffany who had first and exclusive rights to the pretty blue violet mineral for many years. |
| Wearing a well-cut Tanzanite communicates self-confidence, individuality, and maturity. |
Its brilliant color and its exclusive origin in Tanzania combine to make Tanzanite a unique and highly sought after gemstone. |
|
Tanzanite is a variety of zoisite. It has naturally occurring shades of blue, green, yellow, pink, brown and khaki but virtually all gemstone quality crystals are heat treated to produce the highly valued shades of sapphire blue, amethyst and blue violet. On Mohs’ scale of hardness, tanzanite is 6.5-7. The prime source of all the world’s tanzanite is in Tanzania near Arusha.
