"I was surprised by the large presentation of a 1.33ct. stone piece. This ring as a very glamorous antique look in the setting, and a very clear and rich looking iolite. No doubt, this piece will be confused with tanzanite at first glance.
With natural pieces like this available from JTV for such ridiculously affordable prices, I can't imagine why ANYONE would choose to pay hundreds of dollars for costume jewelry!!"

"I liked this ring but sent it back. The stone was darker than expected, even in the light. However, the ring/stone is much prettier in person. If I change my mind and order another, perhaps I'll get a better hue, also I may order a larger size to wear on my middle finger."

Fast Facts
Iolite is a clean, beautiful stone that is still very affordable.
It can be found in blue to purple to light gray colors.
The Vikings used iolite as a light polarizer, using it to see through the haze and determine the exact location of the sun on overcast days.
With a very strong pleochroism, iolite changes colors when viewed from different angles.
Iolite is found in Myanmar (previously called Burma), Brazil, India, Madagascar, Sri Lanka, and the United States.
