Product Description for Min 3.50ct 11x9mm Emerald Cut Unheated Ametrine From Bolivia, Erv = $210.00-AME119025A

Ametrine occurs when amethyst and citrine are naturally found together in one piece of quartz. Ametrine, which ranks a 7 on Mohs' hardness scale, is typically rectangular cut to show the color split, but it can be cut to blend colors through the stone. The major supplier of ametrine is the Anahi Mine in Bolivia, which became famous in the 17th century when it was given as dowry to a conquistador upon marriage. It was introduced to Europe through the conquistador's gifts to the Spanish queen.

"I have received several ametrines in the recent mixed faceted parcels. I want to have a necklace made with them and needed a large center stone to compliment the graduated sizes of the other ametrines. This was perfect. I don't know when I will be able to have the necklace made, but I have the stones, and it will be stunning!"

"I thought the color separation on these stones was weak. The cut, clarity and solid color were nice, but the division wasn't as good as a less expensive stone I ordered."
