Product Description for Min 7.75ct 14x12mm Emerald Cut Ametrine
Ametrine occurs when amethyst and citrine are naturally found together in one piece of quartz. Ametrine, which ranks a 7 on Mohs' hardness scale, is typically rectangular cut to show the color split, but it can be cut to blend colors through the stone. The major supplier of ametrine is the Anahi Mine in Bolivia, which became famous in the 17th century when it was given as dowry to a conquistador upon marriage. It was introduced to Europe through the conquistador's gifts to the Spanish queen.
