    Heliodor is the yellow variety of beryl, cousin to aquamarine, emerald, and morganite. Other colors of beryl are referred to by their color, such as golden beryl or red beryl. Heliodor is found in Brazil, Madagascar, the U.S. (North Carolina and California), in Middle Eastern countries, and Russia. It has a hardness of 7.5 to 8 on Mohs' scale.

    "I love this stone! This was my first try for heliodore, thanks to Scott and Nicole. It is the sunflower yellow color that I had hoped for, and when louped is very clean. Also well cut. I plan to use this in a necklace with a trillion tanzanite. This color combination is dynamite! I will be ordering more!"

    The colors of yellow beryl range from pale lemon to rich gold. Beryl with lush golden hues is sometimes referred to as heliodor.
    Pliny the Elder recommended beryl as an exceptional cure for eye diseases.
    Considered an oracle stone, beryl was once considered useful in divining the future and in look for missing items.
    Some of finest Heliodor is sourced in Madagascar.





    Heliodor is from the Beryl family of gemstones. It exhibits a range of yellow from lemon-yellow to golden-yellow. On Mohs’ scale of hardness, Heliodor is 7.5-8. It has a vitreous luster and primary sources include Brazil, Madagascar, Namibia, Nigeria, Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka.
