    "Although I have sometimes been disappointed when purchasing things online without seeing them in-person first, this was not the case with the set of stringed-Carnelian beads I just purchased from JTV. They were just what I was hoping for in my plans to make a graduated-bead necklace and matching bracelet. The variations in the peachy colors all go nicely together, and also blend well with the lovely jasper beads that I had purchased from JTV on an earlier occasion. The beads are just perfect! I had planned to make a necklace/bracelet set just for myself, but the beads are so lovely, that I also plan to make a set for my aunt as a Mother's Day gift, as well."

    Chalcedony that is uniformly colored red to reddish brown or flesh is known as carnelian.
    Its durability, beauty and abundance made chalcedony one of the earliest raw materials used by humans.
    Originally shaped into knives, tools and containers, chalcedony eventually was used as an adornment.
    The finest carnelian in the world comes from India.




    Carnelian is a quartz crystal and a sub-variety of chalcedony. It is found in flesh-color to reddish brown to a uniform red. On Mohs’ scale of hardness, carnelian is 6.5 - 7. It has a waxy or dull luster and primary sources include Brazil, India and Uruguay.
