It has been called the "cinnamon stone" because of the rich amber color of gem-quality hessonite. This stone exhibits an unusual "heat wave" texture that resembles the illusion or pattern visible when heat is viewed rising from a distant surface. Hessonite can be found in Sri Lanka, Brazil, and California. It ranks 6.5 to 7.5 on Mohs' hardness scale.

"This stone is a very good value. The color is gorgeous...the only problem is a few tiny nicks on the bottom of the stone. Am thinking whether to return it or keep it...VERY hard decision! Am leaning toward keeping it since it's such a gorgeous piece...and the nicks don't affect the look of the stone. Decisons....Decisions!!! Am pretty sure the nicks could be buffed out easily."
