    "Things I was hoping for:
PICTURES of what materials would look like when found.
Locations of digging sites open to the public.
Information, such as cost, hours, etc.

Sadly it had few locations, but the information was great. No pictures of what the gems in the rough would look like. If you want to find Museums and tours of former mine sites... this book is great!"

"Very disappointing. Lists mostly MUSEUMS, and only an occasional "dig" site. AND, some of the museums have stones from other areas, including the world, not just the state!? This book should probably be called Gem & Mineral Museums of the Northeast, and is not worth buying as a source to "dig, pan, and mine your own gems & minerals." One could probably find more information on the internet. The only redeeming factor was a list at the back, of "minerals" found in other areas of the country. And it appears that a lot of these other dig sites are "salted," with material added...this is worth knowing if one indeed would opt to go to the South or Southwest, where there apparently are a few legit dig sites. As a kid, we did plenty of rock-hounding around NJ (Northeast). Where are all of these places today???"

"I expected a bok that exclusively noted Northeast finds. I own some acreage in upper NY and thought the book would help me to know what to look for. Instead, It reads a s a guide book to mining camps. It covers states outside the Northeast and doesn't even list Danburite as a find in Conneticut. I can get more info from the internet. Was very disappointed.
