    Bixbite is rare red beryl, ranging from orange-red through deep red shades to purple-red. Bixbite's cousins in the beryl family include a range of colorful stones like aquamarine, emerald, heliodor, morganite, and goshenite. It ranks 7.5 to 8 on Mohs' hardness scale, making it a durable stone. Named for mineral collector Maynard Bixby, bixbite is found only in a few locations in the western U.S. and possibly in Mexico. Gem-quality bixbite is incredibly rare.

    "this stone is so small, yet , it has the fire of a burma ruby. the size doesnt bother me . some people would think that it is to small, yet the fact that it is something most people wont see in there lives , amazing. i love that i can collect all these stones that are not being mined anymore. for my kids, better label these jewls, so they will know just how special they are. thank you jtv, for the exotics. loveeeeeee it..."
