    14kt gold filled 22 gauge square 1/2 hard wire. Gold filled means that the 14kt gold overlay has been heat and pressure bonded to a brass core. Half hard wire is still flexible and will hold and maintain its shape well. In regards to the gauge size, the higher the size the thinner the wire. This wire measures 6.5 feet and weighs .25 ounces.

    "I never knew JTV even sold items like these as they are not commonly listed under "jewelry-making" or other sub-categories. Only by reading a multitude of reviews on other products did I run across the wire type I needed for wire-wrapped items I create. PLEASE, if jtv OR others know if various sizes are available, item numbers or departments, etc., I would purchase more as it is GOOD quality and no "rock-shops" are around my area. THANKS, jtv, for offering a surprising yet essential square gold-filled wire for us "craftspeople"!"

    "As the first to review, I hope I can be helpful. I'm a new jewelry maker, moving from snap-in castings to jewelry findings and wire! I'm learning a lot. Recently, I discovered a neat jewelry making technique: wire crochet! For about 30 years now I have found crochet meditative & peaceful. Now I can not only watch JTV as I crochet, I can crochet jewelry as I watch! Using differing softness or hardness of wire, one can make various projects. For crochet, I'm using the highest gauge wire I can manage: 26 or 28 is ideal, but can break for the inexperienced. This 22 gauge is a good start, flexible enough to shape with my hands & crochet hook (letter 'I' size); lower gauges require tools. I've posted video for wire crochet at the JTV fan group on Facebook for anyone interested. I'm sorry I don't have pictures ready; this project will take some time! But I have Faith that I will be giving pretty, hand-crafted gold crochet necklaces to my daughters and grandchildren by next Christmas!"
