    "I had never seen a moldavite before except on JTV. The color is very unusual, but very pretty. Already have a semi-mount to have it set in. Can't wait until it is. Now have to work on getting some stones for earrings. It is wonderful to have something this different from Mother Nature."

    From bottle-green to brown-green, moldavite is a transparent, glassy stone.
    Moldavite was first discovered in 1787 near a river in the Czech Republic.
    Some have suspected that moldavite originated from a meteorite.
    Depending on where it is discovered, moldavite also goes by other names: Australite (Australia), Billitonite (Borneo), Georgiaite (Georgia, United States), Indochininite (Indochina), Javaite (Java), and Philippinite (the Philippines).

    Moldavite is part of the tekite group. It exhibits a bottle-green to brown-green color. On Mohs’ scale of hardness, moldavite is 5.5. It has a vitreous luster and primary sources include Australia (Australite), Borneo (Billitonite), Georgia, United States (Georgiaite), Indochina (Inchinite), Java (Javaite), and the Philippines (Philippinite).
