 Price: $55.55
Product Description for Min .90ct Mm Varies Round Irradiated Black Diamond-D2R3443The name "diamond" comes from the Greek word "adamas", meaning "the unconquerable." Diamond earned this named as the hardest gemstone, ranking a 10 on the Mohs' scale--the highest rank possible. Diamond's cutting resistance is 140 times greater than ruby and sapphire, the next hardest stones on the scale. Irradiation treatment is sometimes used to enhance the color of diamonds. During this treatment, the stone is exposed to high-energy sources (like electrons) to create wonderful colors.

"i actually work in a jewelery store, so i am very familiar with gems of all kind. the clairty and outer polish of the stone was good, better than i though it would be. however the cut was very deep, therefore the stone looks no bigger than a half carat. still, i happy with it though, because i would rather have a nice looking smaller stone then a crummy big one. dont expect a 2 thousand dollar stone, but it was totally worth what i paid."

"This morning, I had my stone appraised and it was valued at $825. Considering the fact that it was heavily included, the appraiser determined this diamond to be a keeper."

"Arrived quickly. According to my jeweler, it is 5.5mm and 0.92 carats. Some inclusions toward the perimeter so not as bad as in the center. Nicely faceted. Jeweler was VERY surprised at the price. I think it is an excellent value. No way would I pay $1500 to $5000 for a high quality diamond, so I am very pleased."

Fast Facts
| Diamond is the hardest known gemstone on earth. |
| In 1477, Archduke Maximillian gave his betrothed a ring set with a diamond as a love token, making it the first recorded diamond engagement ring. |
| Diamond comes from the Greek word “adamas” meaning invincible. |
| Some beautiful purple color garnets will often be found in kimberlite (blue ground) soil samples in diamond rich areas and called diamond indicators. |
As diamonds are formed by nature, most naturally develop minute imperfections known as inclusions. A diamond is considered “clean” if a trained eye cannot see inclusions when viewing the diamond through a color corrected lens at 10 times magnification. |
|
Diamond is crystallized carbon, the only gem composed of a single element. The most popular diamonds are traditionally colorless, but they can also be found in yellow and brown colors. Although much rarer, diamonds known as “fancies” also come in blue, red, pink, green, orange, black, lavender and purple. On Mohs’ scale of hardness, diamond is the world’s hardest substance at 10. It has a high luster and primary sources include South Africa, Namibia, Australia, Botswana, Russia, Zaire, Brazil, Ghana, Angola, Central African Republic and Canada.
