    "I ordered this parcel to set in one of the snap set crosses. I thought the color would be lovely. I was right. The color of the stones is beautiful. The trouble came when I louped the parcel. All but two of the stones had chips in them. This is NOT typical of my parcel orders, but this one is going to have to go back. The best parcel I ever received was 100cts wrapped in gem paper rather than put in those little plastic bags. It only had one damaged stone in the entire parcel. I think the tightness of the paper does not allow the stones to chip each other during shipping. I hope JTV will start shipping the parcels in paper."

On Mohs’ scale of hardness, rhodolite is 7-7.5. It has a vitreous luster and primary sources include Burma (Myanmar), China, Madagascar, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Tanzania, and the United States.
