The amethyst is approximately 7mm. This ring measures 5/8 inch knuckle to knuckle and is not sizeable.

"When I spotted this ring on line, I thought the design was exceptional, and on my hand, it looks like a very expensive, designer styled piece. The amethyst is a beautiful, deep purple. The white topaz on the shoulder look more like white sapphires or diamonds, they're so clear and sparkling. It's a great ring to wear with casual clothes, and with purple being such a hot color for Fall, this is a wonderful addition to my collection. I rarely wear necklaces, but I'm really tempted to order the matching pendant. (By the way, JTV, you might want to include some indicator on the detailed description page for items like this ring that have a matching component! Had I not been looking around at a number of pages online, I wouldn't have known about the pendant at all!)"
