Main garnet groups include pyrope, almandite, spessartite, grossularite, andradite, and uvarovite. On Mohs' scale of hardness, garnet ranks 6.5 to 7.5. This wide-ranging group of gems covers virtually any color and is found all around the world. Commonly, garnets are found in shades of red, purplish-red, and green. Some garnets possess color-change ability like rare alexandrite.

"The first one I received had beautiful pale mint color, but the cut was too shallow, causing a large window. I immediately ordered another, as I simply HAD to have a stone of this lovely color. I was not disappointed. The second stone was a bit asymmetrical in cut, but did not have a window. It's color was perfect, and I'm pleased to add this gem to my collection."

"My only complaint with this stone is that it was smaller than 4.5mm. It was about 4.25mm. I know that doesn't sound like a big deal but when you're trying to match with another stone that IS 4.5, you can really see the difference. My mint garnet wasn't at all "minty", it looked exactly like my other beautiful tsavorites in a pretty grassy green. My stone didn't window so I was happy about that--unlike with some of my other stones."
