Product Description for Min 4.50ct 12x12mm Trillion Paraiba Tourmaline Simulant

Tourmaline was named after "turmali", the Sinhalese word for "mixed", probably because of the variety of colors it's found in and the fact that it can be bi-, tri- or parti-colored. Tourmaline ranks a tough 7 to 7.5 on the Mohs' scale of hardness. It is the national gemstone of the U.S. but is found all over the world, with colors varying depending on its origin. Indicolite is the name for the deep blue to greenish-blue variety, and rubellite is the pink-red color.

"I bought this one to make a pendant. I can't afford the real thing right now, so the simulent will be fine. I only will wear rings with real gemstones. I hope a friend that makes and repairs jewelry will be able to set it for me. It is very hard to find a setting for a trillion."

"Who cares that it's man-made - it's absolutely entrancing! Staring into it in different lights or from different directions is an exercise in meditation: its colors waft from the electric blues and greens of the Caribbean Sea. I made quite the pendant out of it - thanks Mom! :)"
