"This was my first iolite purchase. Beautiful style setting. A little poor on workmanship. Like the other reviewer said the basket is uneven but my stone, which is large and deep colored and sparkly, sits straight. I like the way the way the basket sits up high and the base is small. Because of this the two diamond eternity type bands I wear with it sit close but not right next to the center band. The diamonds on the ring are a little dull and not set perfectly but all in all with my bands I LOVE the way it looks."

"Iolite has fast become my favorite gem. I have several pieces in white gold and have wanted to have some in yellow gold, so when I saw this ring,I had to have it. The color on the stone is completely saturated. Very sapphire blue with an under tone of purple depending on the light. The little diamonds down the shank give it that royal,rich feeling and makes it look like a very expensive piece of jewelry. the only problem is one side of the basket that holds the gem is slightly crooked, but not noticable."

Iolite

Iolite is a gemstone with a slight variability in chemical composition between stones. It exhibits a blue-to-violet range of colors and sometimes shows a brownish streak. On Mohs’ scale of hardness, iolite is 7-7.5. It has a greasy luster and primary sources include Burma (Myanmar), Brazil, India, Madagascar, Sri Lanka and the United States.
